swimmin'

mahala has just started swim lessons closer to our home. it's an outdoor pool so she is getting used to the fact that it is a chillier endeavor, even though it has been in the 80's outside, but she is adjusting fairly easily.

talkative? oh no....not at all...

this pretty much happens all throughout dinner. douglas and i exchanging glances and wondering how he could talk this much and sometimes wondering what he is trying to say!

mahala went all out with this project! she was pretending to be a copy machine (seriously)

the start of summer!

the end of school and the start if summer! we spent the first no-school day at the discovery museum and then in the evening we caught the fairfax 'movie in the park'. the kids stayed up until 10 and did really well and had a lot of fun munching on popcorn and cuddling in blankets. then today was the first day of the fairfax festival that was kicked off by the big town parade, complete with stilt-walkers which the kids loved.

lipstick on a kid

apparently once you graduate from kindergarten, you get to wear lipstick.....

here is mahala with her buddy josie who just happened to have makeup in her backpack. they snuck away and came back fully adorned with blush and lipstick. girls will be girls?

time to make the donuts

mahala decided that she wanted to make donuts for mrs. williams, her teacher. noble and i made them - they are amazingly allergen free and healthy too - and then mahala embellished them with vanilla glaze, chocolate glaze, nuts and coconut. she is quite proud as you can tell (and so am i)

mahala is 'moving on'

mahala had her kindergarten 'moving on' ceremony two days before the last day of school. noble missed it, but daddy joined us since it was such an important day! she is really excited about going to first grade but is looking forward to a summer of swimming and camps. you'll see her teacher mrs. williams and all 19 of her classmates. it was certainly a great year with so many great kids!
